i hope that one day my yard will be as bursting with flowers as this lady's is. i also hope that when i am old like she is, i will still be mowing the lawn (and loving it).
another thing is that i am in the process of reading a lot of books right now, and one of them is walden by henry david thoreau. i've read it before, but it's been a long time and i think i see the world differently now than when i was fourteen or however old i was when i read it the first time.
listen to this: "to be awake is to be alive. i have never yet met a man who was quite awake. how could i have looked him in the face? we must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake, not by mechanical aids, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn, which does not forsake us in our soundest sleep."
there are so many times when i can't find the words for things, and words just don't seem to fit right or work for me. but then sometimes there are things like that when words become more even than just a name for something, more than a description, a definition. they become a little breath of life and meaning and truth.
and that's why i like them so very much.
