"To venerate the simple days
Which lead the seasons by,
Needs but to remember
That from you or me
They may take the trifle
Termed mortality!
To invest existence with a stately air,
Needs but to remember
That the acorn there
Is the egg of forests
For the upper air!"
-emily dickinson
it's important to note that when i read things i like to read them aloud at least a little bit aloud, and just now as i was typing this and reading it back it took me three tries on 'acorn' because i kept saying 'or-kin' instead.
i don't know why.
